Frequently asked questions

Why choose sublimation for my patch?

Choose dye-sublimation when your design demands full-color, photorealistic clarity that traditional stitching cannot match. It is the best choice for capturing complex color gradients, fine photographics, intricate artwork, and tiny, ultra-thin text that would otherwise get lost in traditional thread work.

When does combining sublimation and embroidery make sense?

Combining dye-sublimation with embroidery makes sense when you want the texture and dimension of stitching alongside the fine detail of digital printing. It is ideal for: Complex Backgrounds: Using sublimation to print multi-colored gradients, photographic scenes, or intricate patterns on the base fabric while highlighting core elements with raised embroidery. Fine Text and Logos: Printing small lettering or micro-details that are too fine for thread, while framing the overall patch with an embroidered edge or focal emblem. Hybrid Visual Effects: Creating a striking contrast between the smooth, vibrant printed backdrop and the tactile, 3D structure of embroidered thread work.

What sizes do you offer for sublimated patches?

We offer sublimated patches in a broad spectrum of sizes, ranging from a compact half-inch 1 inch up to a massive 40 inches wide. Because dye-sublimation uses digital print-to-fabric technology, we can scale your artwork to large banner-style back patches or tiny brand labels while maintaining sharp resolution and rich color accuracy across all dimensions.

How do I wash and care for garments with sublimated patches?

Sublimated patches are exceptionally durable because the ink is permanently fused directly into the fabric fibers, making them highly resistant to fading, cracking, and peeling. To maintain their vibrant color and clean finish over time, follow these care guidelines: Washing & Care Instructions Washing: Wash garments inside out in cold or warm water (up to 100°F / 40°C) on a gentle or normal cycle. Detergent: Use standard mild laundry detergent. Avoid harsh chemical detergents or fabric softeners. Bleach: Do not use chlorine bleach. Non-chlorine color-safe bleach can be used if necessary, but plain water and mild detergent are recommended. Drying: Tumble dry on low heat or line-dry in the shade for best results. Excessive high heat in commercial dryers should be avoided. Ironing: If ironing the garment, do not apply a hot iron directly onto the face of the patch. Iron the garment inside out or place a protective cotton cloth over the patch.

How do I heat press or iron on a sublimated patch?

Applying a sublimated patch with a heat-seal (iron-on) backing requires heat, firm pressure, and precise timing to activate the adhesive without scorching the patch face. Application Instructions Pre-Heat Fabric: Place your garment flat on your press or pressing surface. Pre-press the target area for 3 to 5 seconds to eliminate wrinkles and moisture. Position Patch: Lay the patch in your desired location on the garment with the embroidered border and printed surface facing up. Cover with Cover Sheet: Place a sheet of Teflon paper or non-stick silicone parchment over the patch to protect the sublimation inks and top fabric from direct element contact.
